Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Digital Retinal Photography
At Pendlebury Eyecare Opticians, we now offer a brand-new service called Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) FREE with every eye test for a limited period.
You may already be familiar with your optician taking a photograph of the retina at the very back of the eye. This is an important part of the eye test as it allows many intra-ocular eye diseases and other health related problems to be identified early, and has always been included as standard at Pendlebury Eyecare.
OCT is an exciting new diagnostic process which has only recently become available to opticians. Unlike taking a photograph (which produces a “flat image”), OCT is more like taking an “ultrasound scan” of the eye using light instead of sound waves to build up a 3D image of the back of the eye. The 3D picture is a huge step forward in imaging capability and allows for much earlier diagnosis of any degenerative conditions which need to be identified as early as possible.
Having recently installed OCT equipment in the practice, we can confidently offer you the very latest in eye care technology.

Note: OCT scanning is a non-standard part of the eye-test and is free for a limited period at Pendlebury Eyecare. Most opticians charge a premium for OCT scanning of up to an additional £30.
